Keith Ellison

Keith Ellison: an important fact i think we need to point out. about 25% of all organizing drives, at least one worker is unlawfully fired for union activity. so again, this kind of protection, this stress free way to either have the union recognized or not, i think is a very, very good idea.

Keith Ellison

2:03:04 to 2:03:25( Edit History Discussion )

Keith Ellison: i believe the gentlelady was kind of going down myths that are out there. let's bust a few more myths out. i think that it's important to point out that this does not hurt small business. small businesses would not be harmed by the employee free choice a the -- in fact, small businesses stand to gain from the employee free choice act.

Keith Ellison

2:03:26 to 2:03:48( Edit History Discussion )

Keith Ellison: it's interesting to me that in this time when we talk about too big to fail and these enormous business, some opposing the employee free choice act, it's the small business that is often at the back end of the line on this stuff. but along that alone, let's just say that small business owners are supporting the bill and beginning to speak out all over the country.

Keith Ellison

2:03:49 to 2:04:09( Edit History Discussion )

Keith Ellison: in fact, wisconsin company, wisconsin vision, owned by david horndash, says that having a union makes his employees more career oriented, more in his business, and gives them a competitive edge. jim o'malley, owner of a print shop in pittsburgh, values the apprenticeship program for his emploes.

Keith Ellison

2:04:10 to 2:04:31( Edit History Discussion )

Keith Ellison: sharing training, with the union is of benefit to this small business employer. ruth schepp, a business owner in north dakota says good jobs support families, they support the community, and she wants to see workers be able to form a union and to have a choice in our economy. larry thompson, ownerp an ohio firm, thompson electric,

Keith Ellison

2:04:32 to 2:04:53( Edit History Discussion )

Keith Ellison: recently wrote an op-ed in which he wrote, our union workers receive most cutting-edge job training available, and it pays off through lower entry rates, increased productivity, and strengthening ability to serve the people of ohio. so i would agree with you. it is cheaper in the short-term, this quarter torques try to shave a buck here, buck there.

Keith Ellison

2:04:54 to 2:05:01( Edit History Discussion )

Keith Ellison: if you want a successful buness that's built over the long term, that means having a good solid, well trained reliable, productive work force.
